About
In May 2019 the Commune of Lorentzweiler opened a community garden in the lovely village of Hünsdorf. Located near the cycle path and a children’s playground, the garden is also close to the river Alzette. The gardening activities are carried out in a way that is respectful and in harmony with the natural environment. The land that was made available by the Commune had been set aside for non-building purposes. The scope of what Community Gardens can achieve varies widely: they can provide fresh fruit and vegetables, a place for wildlife and also safe public spaces that are well-maintained. This garden is run by a Management Committee set up by local people, usually working on a volunteer basis. Community gardens often bring different cultures and generations together, improving individual and community confidence and bridging the divide between ethnic, and socio-economic groups. The mission is to create an abundance of food for people in need by supporting and encouraging the establishment of such gardens on unused land and space while increasing diversity, raising awareness for health and wellness, and inspiring and educating youth, adults and seniors alike.
One parcel of the community garden is beeing used by TUZD members. Feel free to contact us, if you feel a tickle in your green thumb.
